We are often asked for the names of "gender friendly" places to shop in Orlando (and the region) or for professionals who can offer services to the "community." While many places accept cross dressers in Central Florida as they do in any city, these places have advertised in our newsletter or have had some special relationship to us in the past. We encourage local CD's to support them as they have supported us
While we favor those service providers and stores that have supported us, there are a number of other friendly places in central Florida. Florida tends to be a bit conservative and they tend to have a lot of visitors on vacation who sometimes don't mind speaking up more than they might back home.
Something about Walt Disney World. They are a very gay/lesbian/gender friendly park but they have standards to which they hold every visitor. Be reasonably passable (which means dressing like everyone else in the park), dress appropriately because they don't admit any hookers--male or female--and stay out of the restrooms if you don't pass. Otherwise, we have heard of no problems by anyone going to any of the theme parks en femme if they are well behaved. You may want to call Disney and ask about their annual Gay/Lesbian/Gender day if you want a "safer" environment. This is usually the first weekend in June.
Many sisters enjoy walking on local beaches (Daytona, Canaveral National Seashore, etc.). While these are very safe environments, be careful after dusk. See our separate listing for clubs and night spots above.
